My sock monkey can in a plastic protective package. This sock monkey is large so I felt safe giving it to my 1 year old. The smaller ones make me nervous, but this one is a good size for smaller kids. The monkey is soft and cuddly. He is stuffed just right so he is soft to cuddle but not firm to the touch. His colors are brown, tan and red. This sock monkey makes for a cute remembered gift. It has cute red yarn hair and beard. My only issue with this toy is the eyes have been put on with hot glue which I would not consider safe, I would have much preferred sewn in or on eyes. But over all the majority of this toy is well made. I received this product for free for my honest unbiased opinion.
